"Ramen Akaneko"—also known as "Red Cat Ramen"—is a Japanese manga and anime series centered around a quirky ramen shop run entirely by cats. The story follows Tamako Yashiro, a dog person who unexpectedly finds herself hired as the shop’s caretaker. Full of humor, charm, and delicious bowls of ramen, the series quickly became a fan favorite for anime lovers with a taste for the unexpected.

Foil & Discharge Screen Printing Process

The design features an anime-style cat joyfully eating ramen, accompanied by Japanese calligraphy, capturing the spirit of the series in a fun and striking composition.

We used a combination of bright red foil and white discharge ink to bring the artwork to life. The foil adds a metallic shimmer that catches the light and adds texture, while the discharge print gives the white areas a soft, vintage feel by re-dyeing the fabric instead of layering ink. Together, these elements create a multi-dimensional print that feels as special and offbeat as the show itself.

The Garment of Choice

For this piece, we used the AS Colour 5001 Staple T-Shirt in Bone, a clean, neutral base that allowed the red foil and white ink to truly stand out. With its premium cotton construction and tailored fit, the Staple Tee was the perfect canvas for this high-impact, collectible release.
