BTS – Exact Corp. Feb. 2016
Jackie Valencia – General Operations Manager
Having the top apparel decorating facility located smack in the middle of the Central Valley in California, farm country, it’s only natural that we’d be partnered up with innovative suppliers to the Ag community, Exact Harvesting Systems.
Exact has been a loyal partner of Apparel Graphics since 2014. They came to us looking for a supplier of custom branded garments to use as employee uniforms. We have been printing and producing many different items for them ever since.
BEHIND THE SCREEN – with Jackie Valencia, Exact Corp., Operations Manager
Q: Tell us about Exact. How long have you been in business?
A: Exact Corp. was established in 2003. We design, engineer, and build equipment that enables farmers in California to be successful. Exact is a family owned company that currently operates with 94 employees. Originally a contract harvesting company in 1977 has branched and evolved into what amounts to three proud generations of farmers. “Our products are built by farmers, for farmers. We believe that’s what sets us apart.”
Q: How long have you been working with Apparel Graphics?
A: We have been partnering with Apparel Graphics since 2014. Since day one their service has been outstanding. In our business we understand production timelines and urgent needs of clients. Apparel Graphics is fun to work with and has always delivered for us on time.
Q: What sorts of products/items does AG supply you with?
A: We use a variety of items including: hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, beanies, and promotional keychains to name a few. The t-shirts we use for our employee’s day-to-day uniforms. We have really nice embroidered hats made for our sales team to use for clients and some of the other items are given to our employees as holiday gifts. We are lucky. We are a family owned business and we’ve fostered a culture of a family atmosphere with our entire staff. They are proud to wear garments that showcase where they work and what they do.
Q: Exact is a family owned business and I definitely get the family vibe around your shop. Your crew seems like they have a good time with one another. Do you have any fun stories that you’ve been involved with that can share with us?
A: It’s nothing too crazy and wasn’t really that fun, but our sales office is upstairs in our production shop. One day not long ago I was in a hurry and had to run up these stairs. On the way up, I missed a step…and slipped and fell in front of the entire crew. An embarrassing moment for me to say the least, but I wasn’t hurt and the crew had a good laugh.
Q: I bet it can get stressful here, most production-based businesses do. What do you do to relax and unwind?
A: Oh, that’s easy. Once a week I have to go get a pedicure. For sure my favorite relax time.
Q: If we looked at your cell phone, what’s the last photo we’d find that you’ve taken?
A: My son just had a birthday, so you’d see a shot of him eating a huge ice cream dessert.
Q: What about the last movie you’ve seen? Kids movie?
A: No. Not really a kids movie. The last movie I went to see was The Intern – I cried, which of course means I loved it!
AG: Thank you Jackie for your time and thank you very much for your business.
JV: No problem at all. You guys are the best. I really appreciate what you do for us.
